MILWAUKEE – No family members could be found to claim the body of a man who confessed to killing the husband and mother of a federal judge in Chicago (search) in a suicide note, authorities said Saturday.
Bart Ross' (search) body can now be claimed by a funeral home willing to bury it, the medical examiner's office said. Several had offered to bury the body at no cost to the county, but none had claimed the body by Saturday evening.
Ross, 57, shot himself to death March 9 at a traffic stop in suburban Milwaukee (search). Police later found a note in which he implicated himself in the Feb. 28 shootings of Michael Lefkow, 64, and Donna Humphrey, 89 — the husband and mother of U.S. District Judge Joan Humphrey in Chicago.
Ross had been angered when Lefkow dismissed a malpractice suit he had filed, authorities said.
