It was Vice President Dick Cheney's birthday Wednesday but President Bush got the first piece of cake -- a big corner wedge with lots of frosting.

"I love frosting," the president beamed during a little surprise party that White House aides threw for the vice president's 61st birthday.

Cheney and his wife, Lynne, together wielded an oversized knife on the cake. "Lynne said it's kind of like getting married," said Cheney, as the couple jointly sliced into the chocolate cake with white frosting. "It's about time after 37 years and two kids."

Bush asked for a small piece but was handed a huge wedge. "That's a little immodest, I'd hate to see big," Bush said.

Cheney had blown out the six tall rainbow candles in one breath.
