British award-winning singer and DJ, Sonique, is undergoing further surgery after doctors revealed her breast cancer had spread.

Sonique, whose real name is Sonia Clarke, was operated on at a clinic in London's Harley Street on Monday — less than a week after discovering she had the disease.

But test results, received on Thursday, showed her body was not clear of the cancer.

Doctors have confirmed it has now spread to the lymph nodes under her arms, and possibly to her organs too.

"Sonique has been taken back in for another operation as the cancer has spread," the singer's spokesman Stuart Watts said.

Sonique, 40, started her music career as a London teenager and enjoyed her first taste of success with the single “Let Me Hold You” in 1985.

It has not yet been decided if the star will move forward with her European tour this summer.

Sonique follows a list of famous women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in recent years.

Kylie Minogue, Anastacia, Cynthia Nixon, Sheryl Crow and Olivia Newton-John are just some of the women who have fought public battles against the disease.
