Ashlee Simpson refused to deny reports that she is pregnant on Tuesday during a taping of the MTV show "TRL."

"I just think that's an inappropriate question to ask a woman," she said. "For me to have to answer something I didn't ever want to respond to ... and I think that when people deny [reports], it's probably because it's something they want to keep personal," she said.

Simpson's fiance, rocker Pete Wentz, 28, earlier denied Monday's reports in OK! magazine and Us Weekly that the 23-year-old pop star is pregnant.

"There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it," the Fall Out Boy frontman told MTV News.

MTV News also said it asked Wentz if he was denying reports of Simpson's pregnancy. He answered: "Yeah."

People.com is now reporting that Simpson is in fact pregnant and plans to wed Wentz as early as next month at a friend's house in La Jolla, Calif.

Simpson and Wentz announced their engagement last Wednesday.

Last week, Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, told People he's "totally happy" and "so excited to have Pete as part of (our) family."

The pair began dating in fall 2006, according to People.

Simpson, a singer, songwriter and actress, is the younger sister of pop singer Jessica Simpson. Ashlee Simpson's new album, "Bittersweet World," is set for release on April 22.
