Arizona Officials Recover Body of Young Boy Who Jumped Into Canal

PHOENIX – The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said dive teams have recovered the body of a young boy who jumped into a canal Thursday to save another boy.

Witnesses told Mesa police that four boys were playing near the canal Thursday afternoon at 80th Street and University Drive in Mesa. An 11-year-old boy apparently fell into the water.

Police said 7-year-old Aldo Rubio jumped into the canal to save the boy.

Witnesses said the 11-year-old was able to get out of the water on his own, but Aldo never resurfaced.
