"Get Smart" actress Anne Hathaway paid her ex-boyfriend's $37,000 monthly rent in New York City for four months until his lease ran out, and she broke up with him right before feds arrested him on charges of money laundering and wire fraud, Vanity Fair reports.

Raffaello Follieri, 30, broke into tears the night of June 23 while staying in a spare bed at his parents' place at Trump Tower as Hathaway, 25, dumped him over the phone, Vanity Fair says.

"You were the love of my life," Hathaway told him, according to the magazine. "I'll always love you. You know that, baby."

Six hours later, the feds arrived to arrest Follieri — and Hathaway is rumored to have had a hand in the bust.

But four years earlier, the actress was simply smitten.

"It was totally love at first sight ... He is sooo good-looking ... He looks like a god," she said after the pair met in spring 2004, the article says.

Follieri is accused of posing as a representative of the Vatican to con investors wanting to buy and redevelop church properties. He is also accused of taking $6 million from his investment firm and spending it on a lavish lifestyle.
