Angelina Jolie says her children are asking why her and partner Brad Pitt haven't married, Us Magazine reported.
"When we first met I already had a child," Jolie told Italian Vanity Fair for its new issue, according to Us Magazine. "We didn't live together and we adopted Zahara. Usually people fall in love and and everything revolves around people getting married. Children are an afterthought."
The 33-year-old actress said the kids want to know why Shrek and Fiona, characters from the movie "Shrek," got married and they haven't.
"We've done everything the wrong way around, but sooner or later the children will ask, you know, they watch films and ask questions," Jolie tells the European magazine.
Jolie and Pitt met while filming "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in 2005, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.
The Hollywood power couple has six children together.
