Ali, Regis and Halle Berry in the bright interrogation room glare of The Foxlight.

The gloves are off in the Oscar race — boxing gloves. Foxlight saw Ali Wednesday night and it's a triumph of "Will" and spirit. Will Smith nails the greatest so well in most of the scenes he's a cinch for at least Oscar consideration.

The biggest surprise? Will can box. And Jon Voight is very good as Howard Cosell despite looking like he belongs in a Saturday Night Live skit. Ali is long and leaves out a lot, but it's one of the best movies of the year.

Regis, don't give up your day job — you're night gig may be going away. ABC isn't happy that Millionaire ratings are off 37 percent from its high. There's a daytime version on the way but Reege won't be considered for that version.

Meanwhile that snotty Brit isn't setting the ratings world on fire either, but NBC says The Weakest Link will be coming back next year. How about a pay-per-view mud-wrestling match between she and Regis? Now we're talking sweeps weeks chart topper.

Halle Berry survived John Travolta in Swordfish and looked pretty good with most of her clothes off. Now she's getting great buzz for more skin in Monster's Ball with Billy Bob Thornton. What next? What any decent career molding actress would do — a Bond film. That's right, she's reportedly considering a Bond girl villain role.
