Al-Jazeera television showed a tape early Friday of an alleged Pakistani embassy official who disappeared more than five days ago in Baghdad (search).

The Arab satellite station did not air audio of the tape, but said the man urged the Pakistani government and the international community to intervene and secure his release.

It said the man, who was wearing a white skull cap, identified himself as Malik Mohammed Javed (search), the Pakistani official who disappeared after leaving his Baghdad home to attend prayers at a nearby mosque. The tape could not be independently confirmed.

The station said the kidnappers, identified as being from the previously unknown group Amuriya Brigade (search), made no demands for his release.

An official from the Pakistani Embassy in Baghdad who didn't give his name said he hadn't seen the video and had no information.
