CHICAGO – Police say a 7-month-old boy who was abducted when his mother's minivan was stolen on the city's northwest side has been found and is safe.
Illinois State Police issued an Amber Alert for Osial Hernandez early Friday. He was believed to be in a light green, 2003 Dodge Caravan. Police say the kidnapping happened around 3:30 a.m.
Police received a 911 call late Friday afternoon after some workers reported hearing a baby crying from a vehicle parked in suburban Skokie.
Skokie Police Commander Michael Ruth says the infant was wrapped in blankets in a car seat in the back of a minivan.
Ruth says the baby appeared to be unharmed.
The child was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released to his parents Friday evening.
No one has been charged in the incident.
