Teachers and administrators at Iowa City City High say they are struggling to keep classes on track with nearly a quarter of the student body out sick.

Nearly 400 students were out sick Wednesday.

Administrators say students started showing symptoms last week. Since then, illness has spread through the halls faster than a nasty rumor. Principal Mark Hanson says administrators aren't ready to pin the problem to any particular disease. They've had reports of colds, sore throats, stomachaches, headaches, body aches and other complaints.

Many of the teachers now have a bottle of hand sanitizer in their classrooms to try and kill some of those germs.
