Los Angeles police say four people have been arrested after a man and his dog were shot during a home invasion robbery in the Hollywood Hills.

Officer Cleon Joseph says three people entered the home around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and demanded the man open the family safe. Joseph says they grabbed large amounts of cash, shot the man and the family dog and fled.

The man was hospitalized in stable condition and the dog was taken to a vet for surgery.

Another person and a newborn baby in the home weren't hurt.

Joseph says a woman called 911 and police chased a car that crashed. Three men and a woman were arrested.
