Two New York City window washers plunged to their death early Tuesday morning when the cherry picker they were working from tipped over, MyFOXNY.com reported.

The accident occurred early Tuesday at the World Financial Center, just across the street from Ground Zero, Detective John Sweeney said. The men were working out of a cherry picker when the contraption fell. They fell about 30-40 feet, and died at an area hospital, MyFOXNY.com reported.

The men, both in their 30s and employed by Total Building Services in Elizabeth, N.J., have not been identified.

Investigators were at the scene.
