Two people who were found in the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in a Southern California reservoir have been identified.

The Riverside County Coroner's office says the pilot of the Piper Cherokee was 50-year-old William Randy Morgan of Trabuco Canyon. His passenger was 46-year-old Karen Lynne Oberdiear of San Juan Capistrano.

The pair were found Friday in a swampy area behind Prado Dam, an Army Corps of Engineers flood control and water storage project on the Santa Ana River.

Authorities said the fixed wing aircraft took off from Corona Municipal Airport and headed to Lake Havasu, Ariz., when it disappeared in the fog. Witnesses on the ground said they heard the sound of its engine apparently quitting.
