SAN DIEGO – Authorities say a small plane crash has killed two people in a rural, hilly part of northern San Diego County.
State fire Capt. Steve Foster says the single-engine Beech Bonanza 35 crashed off Highway 79 in the Warner Springs area shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Two people on board died. There was no fire and nobody on the ground was hurt.
Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was registered to a Las Vegas resident but it's unclear where it was flying from or where it was heading.
Warner Springs has a gliderport but Foster says he doesn't know whether the plane was being used to tow a glider. He says the region is a flight corridor for pilots heading from the Palm Springs desert area.
The crash happened about 40 miles northeast of San Diego.
