As if gunfire and airstrikes were enough to worry about, now militants have something else to watch out for — territorial bears.
Two Muslim separatists in Kashmir, India, were mauled by a bear Sunday night after they encountered the animal in a cave where they had sought shelter, according to reports. Two other militants escaped the attack, one with serious injuries.
After injured militant went to a nearby village to get treatment, a group of Indian police and army personnel went into the forest and found the bodies of his comrades, the BBC reported.
It was the first animal attack of its kind on insurgents since they took up arms against the Indian government in 1989, according to the BBC.
Police say they also recovered two Kalashnikov assault rifles and some ammunition from the hideout.
