EDINBURGH, Scotland – Police say all 16 people aboard a helicopter that went down off Scotland's northeast coast were killed.
Eight bodies have been recovered and coast guards are searching for the others.
Grampian Police Assistant Chief Constable Colin Menzies said Thursday that the "grim reality" was that all 16 aboard had been lost.
He said the search was now a recovery rather than a rescue operation.
The Super Puma helicopter was returning from a North Sea oil platform when it crashed Wednesday afternoon in calm and sunny conditions, 14 miles (20 kilometers) off Peterhead in northeast Scotland.
