A South Florida charity is anxious about a group of 12 college students and two advisers in Haiti.

The students, who are traveling with Food For The Poor, attend Lynn University in Boca Raton.

The organization's director says one student text-messaged her mother to say they were all safe. But Angel Aloma says the organization hasn't been able to learn anything beyond that.

He hopes to charter a plane Wednesday to find them.

Food For The Poor employs about 600 Haitians in orphanages, schools and feeding operations.

The group on Wednesday was shipping blankets, food and roof repair materials, even though they've had no contact with the wharf.

Aloma says he wants supplies to be waiting there as soon as they can be received.
