Santa Ana police killed an alleged burglar and wounded another but details remain sketchy.

Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says officers got a call about a possible burglary in progress shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. Bertagna says officers contacted two men and shot them, although he had no details of what led to the shooting or if they were armed.

Bertagna says the wounded men got into a sport utility vehicle and fled but the car spun out of control about a half-mile away.

Bertagna says 47-year-old Anthony Martin Del Castillo of Santa Ana died. Bertagna also says Del Castillo was wanted for burglary.

The other man was 54-year-old Elpidio Gerald Antolin of Garden Grove. Bertagna says he was hospitalized but his wound was not life-threatening.
