The Texas Longhorns have looked awful in three road games, all losses. They weren't competitive even any of them.

So redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard is standing up as a leader and putting Saturday's road game at West Virginia squarely on his shoulders.

"What the outcome is going to be is how I perform," Heard said Tuesday during the team's weekly press conference. "I definitely have high expectations of myself."

The Longhorns beat winless Kansas at home last week, but failed to reach .500 on the season the previous week when they fell flat at Iowa State, losing 24-0. Heard threw for 201 yards against the Jayhawks, snapping a four-game streak in which he did not crack 100 passing yards.
