New York Yankees catcher Russell Martin was ejected from Monday night's game against Tampa Bay after exchanging words with the home plate umpire.

Phil Hughes had just walked his second straight batter when Martin appeared to say something to Paul Schrieber as he stood facing the umpire.

The catcher was in his crouch already when Schrieber walked around in front of the plate and continued the conversation. Martin was still crouched when the umpire motioned that he was ejected.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi came out to argue with Schrieber, but wasn't ejected. Austin Romine replaced Martin behind the plate.
