A West Virginia basketball spokesman says suspended guard Noah Cottrill has left the school.

Bryan Messerly said Friday that the 6-foot-1 freshman withdrew from classes this semester.

Cottrill never played for West Virginia after being suspended in October by coach Bob Huggins for conduct "unbecoming of a Mountaineer." No details were released.

Cottrill wasn't immediately available for comment. His cell phone didn't accept messages Friday.

He was the 2010 state high school player of the year. He made news in his freshman season at Poca High School when he gave WVU a verbal commitment. He attended Mountain State Academy in Beckley as a junior and won a Class AAA championship at Logan last year.
