SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Chris Wondolowski scored his team-high seventh goal and new acquisition Khari Stephenson delivered his first MLS assist to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-0 win against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
Wondolowski, who hadn't scored since June 2, volleyed home a perfectly delivered 25-yard chip pass from Stephenson in the 35th minute.
It was the first home victory for San Jose (7-6-5) since May 8. The Earthquakes have not lost to Kansas City at home since Aug. 16, 2000.
The Wizards (5-9-5) went a man up in the 88th minute after defender Jason Hernandez was sent off on a straight red for a foul on rookie Teal Bunbury.
