(SportsNetwork.com) - There are just two winless teams in the NBA and the Denver Nuggets are one of them.
Denver will try to get off the schneid Thursday in the finale of a three-game homestand versus the Atlanta Hawks and is 0-3 for a second straight season.
The Nuggets last started 0-4 back in 1998-99 and are coming off Tuesday's 102-94 setback versus the San Antonio Spurs. Ty Lawson scored 20 points and handed out eight assists, while Kenneth Faried netted 15 points for Denver, which committed 23 turnovers, leading to 27 San Antonio points.
"We just lost track of the game plan," Lawson said. "We have to take care of the ball."
Jordan Hamilton, Randy Foye and Timofey Mozgov scored 11 points apiece in a losing effort. Denver led by as many as 13 in the third, but held just an 82-81 edge with 8:51 left in the fourth before the Spurs embarked on an 11-2 run to seize control of the contest.
Denver has lost its first two home games of the season after closing the 2012-13 campaign with 23 straight wins as the host.
Meanwhile, the Hawks will close out their three-game western jaunt Thursday and posted a 105-100 win at Sacramento on Tuesday. Al Horford had 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Paul Millsap added 25 points and 11 boards for Atlanta, which got 18 points and 10 assists from Jeff Teague.
The Hawks, who have scored 100-plus points in every games this season, almost squandered a 19-point lead in the fourth and extended their winning streak over the Kings to 11 straight games.
"It got a little closer than we would have liked, but that's the NBA," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer.
Kyle Korver finished with nine points and has made at least one 3-pointer in 77 consecutive games. Dana Barros holds the record with 89 games.
Atlanta and Denver split two meetings last season, with each team winning on its home floor. The Nuggets have won five of the last six meetings in this series and six straight as the host.
