Former Jackson State offensive cordinator Earnest Wilson has joined Hampton University's football staff in the same position.

Wilson led the Jackson State offense in each of the last two seasons as it paced the Southwestern Athletic Conference in scoring offense and total offense.

He takes over the offense of a Hampton squad that finished 7-4 last season under head coach Donovan Rose. The Pirates were 5-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, finishing third in both scoring offense and total offense.

Wilson's previous coaching experience included stops at New Mexico State and Benedict College as well as in arena football and a brief internship with the Indianapolis Colts.

Hampton's other offseason coaching changes were Delbert Cowsette returning to the program as the defensive line coach, Darryl Bullock switching from the defensive line to the offensive line and assistant wide receivers coach Greg Taylor switching to the running backs coach.
