West Coast Conference Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich has received a three-year contract extension that takes him through May 31, 2017.

The WCC announced Friday the decision by the league's presidents' council. Zaninovich — only the second commissioner for the WCC — is in his sixth year since replacing Michael Gilleran, who retired May 31, 2008, after 24 years in the job.

Zaninovich has guided the WCC through increased television opportunities, the move of the conference basketball tournament to Las Vegas, the addition of Brigham Young — and, now, the return of Pacific to league membership, the conference's first membership additions since 1979.

Before coming to the WCC, Zaninovich spent five years at Princeton after also working at his alma mater, Stanford — so he has experience in several conferences.
