Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - John Wall finished with 18 points, 14 assists and six rebounds to lift the Washington Wizards to a 92-83 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
Bradley Beal scored a game-high 20 points and Drew Gooden chipped in with 16 for the Wizards, who won their third straight game and currently hold the fifth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
"It was a great win for us," Wall said. "It was a great momentum boost for a lot of guys."
Marc Gasol supplied 18 points and 11 boards and Mike Conley netted 14 with eight assists for the Grizzlies, who won their previous two games and trail Houston by a half-game for second in the Western Conference.
"Tough night for us," Memphis head coach David Joerger said. "We had too many turnovers and we missed a lot of shots."
Rasual Butler's 3-pointer with 1.4 seconds left capped a 9-0 run and gave the Wizards a 29-18 lead after 12 minutes of play.
The Grizzlies, however, responded by scoring the first eight points of the second quarter with Jeff Green's thunderous slam pulling them within three just four minutes into the frame.
Washington scored 10 of the half's final 14 points to give them separation, with Gooden's triple making it a 49-38 at the break.
Ramon Sessions' pair of free throws gave the Wizards a 71-59 advantage heading into the fourth. Memphis never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Washington won in Memphis for the first time since Nov. 3, 2004, ending a string of nine losses ... The Wizards had 26 fastbreak points compared to the Grizzlies' five.
