Monterrey has decided to part ways with manager Victor Vucetich after a slow start to its Apertura campaign.

Vucetich guided Monterrey to three successive CONCACAF Champions League titles as well as two league crowns since joining the club in 2009.

But the 58-year-old has paid the price for a slow start to the current campaign with Monterrey sitting in 14th place after a 3-1 defeat to Leon on Saturday.

"We made the decision as an institution to have a change in coaching, and from this day Mr. Victor Manuel Vucetich and his team no longer belong to our institution," club president Jose Gonzalez Ornelas said.

"There have been important achievements for our club but on the other hand the results we've had in the last three (domestic) tournaments have been below our expectations as a club."
