Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says he is "fairly optimistic" that injured quarterback Braxton Miller will be able to play when the fourth-ranked Buckeyes play at California on Saturday.

Speaking on the Big Ten coaches teleconference, Meyer said that Miller has shown signs that he may be healthy enough to see action after spraining a ligament in his left knee in last weekend's 42-7 win over San Diego State.

Miller received treatment on the knee on Sunday and Monday, then threw a few passes prior to participating in a limited capacity in Tuesday's workout.

Meyer hopes that Miller will not suffer any setbacks and will be able to take part in Ohio State's last big practice of the week on Wednesday.
