Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is expected to be out for up to six weeks due to an ankle injury.

Lindegaard sustained the injury in training and missed Tuesday's match against Stoke City, with Ben Amos taking his place between the posts.

If fit, it is expected that Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea will take over the starting job against Chelsea on Sunday despite the fact that he has struggled to settle in his first season at Old Trafford, having yielded 28 goals in 20 appearances.

Lindegaard has taken hold of the number one spot lately, having conceded only four goals in 11 matches.
