Tyrone White came off the bench to score 28 points — far and away his career high — and set several other personal bests Tuesday, helping Cal State-Bakersfield hold off NAIA program Westmont 77-74 for the Roadrunners' first win of the season.

White, a senior, was 8 of 13 from the field, including 7 of 10 on 3-pointers; he came in having never made more than six field goals or scored more than 17 points in a game. He added eight rebounds, also a career best.

Brandon Barnes chipped in 24 points, one short of his own career high, for the Roadrunners (1-4). Preston Branson scored 22 points to lead the Warriors, while Christopher Miller had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Bakersfield took the lead for good, 69-67, on Barnes' 3-pointer with 1:24 to play, then hit just enough free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
