For every troll on social media who went after Olympic artistic gymnast Alexa Morena, there was dozens more who tweeted their support for the 22-year-old former world-champion finalist from Mexico.

Morena represented her country in the uneven bars, floor exercise, beam, vault and gymnastic heats on Sunday at the Rio Games. She failed to qualify to the finals, but finished in 31st place.
Social media trolls attacked the gymnast with what could only be called childish taunts about her 4-foot-11, 99-pound body.

Most of the mean tweets have since been deleted by users and by Twitter.

In essence, many of the haters called Morena fat, with one malicious person posting a picture of the cartoon character Peppa Pig and claiming it was Morena after her routine.

Morena competed in five events, ranking highest in the women’s vault, for which she came in 12th, and outscored 54 women in the floor exercise.

For any doubters about this young lady's skill, see her competing in the Anadia Cup in June.
