Montpellier, France – Ben Yedder scored in the 72nd minute as Toulouse tied defending Ligue 1 champion Montpellier, 1-1, on Friday at Stade de la Mosson in the opening match of the 2012-13 season.
Souleymane Camara scored in the 34th minute for Montpellier, but Jamelle Saihi was sent off five minutes later for the first of three red cards in the match.
Following the tying goal from Yedder, Toulouse had both Adrien Regattin (72nd) and Christopher Aurier (83rd) sent off.
Coming off the first Ligue 1 title in its history, Montpellier could not take advantage of the extra man in the final stages.
Montpellier dropped points at home just three times in 19 matches last season, a loss and two draws.
