On Tuesday, Texas Rangers second baseman tore the nail of his right middle finger fielding a ball hit by Kevin Pillar of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The painful-sounding injury will prevent Odor from playing for 'at least a couple of days', according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, as the young infielder was wearing a metal covering over the injury on Wednesday.

When asked by Sullivan what happened to cause the injury, Odor gave a simple explanation: "It was a bad hop. We'll see how it feels. I'm not going to do anything today and see how it feels tomorrow."

Sullivan quotes manager Jeff Banister as indicating that Odor's return to the lineup will depend on his 'pain tolerance' with the injury, as it would presumably be pretty difficult to play an infield position with a ripped and aching finger.

With Odor sidelined for a few days the club will have to get creative, as Texas doesn't really have a true backup middle infielder on their roster at the moment now that Adam Rosales was set free last week.
