Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - PGA TOUR - HYUNDAI TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, Kapalua Resort, Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii - The PGA Tour returns from an extended break this week for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the first event of the 2014 calendar year.

Due to the tour's new wraparound schedule, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions will mark the seventh event of the 2013-2014 season.

Last year, Dustin Johnson posted a four-stroke victory at the windy, weather- shortened tournament, whose field is comprised of winners from the previous season.

Johnson will be back on hand at the Plantation Course to defend his title, while Masters champion Adam Scott, PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, Brandt Snedeker, Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson and 2013 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Jordan Spieth will also compete. Spieth is one of 13 first-time winners from 2013 in this week's field.

The tournament is scheduled to run from Friday to Monday. Golf Channel will have coverage of all four rounds, with NBC handling early programming Sunday before handing it back to Golf Channel.

The PGA Tour remains in the Aloha State next week for the Sony Open in Hawaii, which Russell Henley won in 2013.
