The San Diego Chargers think they have a pretty good reason for ending Eric Weddle's year.

It wasn't just that the star safety skipped out on a halftime full of adjustments. It's that the team claims it was unaware of his new halftime plans.

Head coach Mike McCoy via Pro FootballTalk : "We have a policy here, and a situation took place two weeks ago at our stadium. So yes, we did fine him. It's an organizational call."

It could end up being the call that separates Weddle and the Chargers for good. He'll probably seek another team when he hits free agency this offseason .

Until then, he'll be unable to break any more team policies from his spot on injured reserve.
