The Houston Texans placed linebacker Darryl Sharpton on injured reserve Wednesday.

Sharpton suffered a torn tendon in his quadriceps in last Sunday's 24-14 win over Jacksonville and will miss the rest of the season.

The second-year veteran out of Miami-Florida had 12 tackles in eight games.

To take his place on the roster, the team signed rookie linebacker Mister Alexander off the practice squad.

Also, the team signed linebacker Derrell Smith to the practice squad.
