UEFA announced on Monday that Chelsea defender John Terry had his European suspension reduced by one game.

Terry was handed a three-match ban after he was sent off for a foul on Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez in Chelsea's Champions League semifinal win last season.

The 31-year-old missed the Champions League final and will have to sit out the Super Cup match later this month against Europa League champions Atletico Madrid.

But the third game of his ban was deferred for a probationary period of three years after an appeal, meaning that Terry will be eligible to play in Chelsea's first Champions League group stage match.
