Stuttgart, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Felix Sturm defeated defending champion Darren Barker in the second round to capture the IBF middleweight belt on Saturday.

Sturm (39-3-2) knocked down Barker (26-2) twice in the second round, with Barker's trainer Tony Sims throwing in the towel after the second knockdown.

Barker had gestured to his corner after the second knockdown that he had problems with his hip, and it was later found out that the hip was dislocated.

Barker had surgery on his hips in 2010, and was out of the ring for over a year as a result.
