Boone, NC – Appalachian State football coach Jerry Moore has up of ranked FCS teams Saturday.
Moore suspended Ed Gainey, a senior cornerback, and Lanston Tanyi, a junior linebacker/defensive end, for last weekend's game against Savannah State for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Tuesday morning, Moore said his decision on the players' status will be made "probably be about midweek, I hope." He is expected to talk with both players before announcing a decision..
Sophomore Rodger Walker, who started in place of Gainey, intercepted a pass against Savannah State which led to a touchdown. Senior Demery Brewer is Tanyi's backup at the bandit position.
Saturday's match-up is the Southern Conference opener for third-ranked Appalachian State (2-1) and 13th-ranked Chattanooga (2-1).
