U.S. sprinter Michael Rodgers tested positive for the prohibited stimulant methylhexaneamine and has pulled out of the World Track and Field Championships, set to begin later this month.

Rodgers, the 2009 USA outdoor champion in the 100 meters, maintained his innocence and claims he did not intentionally take the substance, but he still decided to withdraw.

In a press release by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, Rodgers said he decided to withdraw "out of fairness to the other athletes competing there so that they may do so without the distraction of his positive test."
