Baton Rouge, LA – New Southern University football coach Dawson Odums will make his 2013 debut since having the interim tag removed from his title at the University of Houston.
The game will be played either Aug. 29 or 31.
Odums was named Southern's head coach last month. He took over the program on an interim basis after former coach Stump Mitchell was reassigned following an 0-2 start this past September, and the Southwestern Athletic Conference program posted a 4-5 record behind Odums.
Southern will play five home games at A.W. Mumford Stadium against Prairie View A&M (Sept. 14), Jackson State (Sept. 28), Alabama A&M (Oct. 12), Alcorn State (Oct. 26, Homecoming) and Division II Clark Atlanta (Nov. 16).
The Jaguars' rivalry game with Grambling State will be played on Nov. 30 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
