SOCHI, Russia – You've heard it many times: "Depends on how you look at things." Here's a dramatic Olympic example of that very precept, shown with the help of remote cameras set up in advance in the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi.
In the first frame, shot Friday by Associated Press photographer David J. Phillip using a static remote camera above the goal, Swedish goalie Henrik Lundqvist reacts after his team beats Finland 2-1.
Now look at the second frame. That's Lundqvist from the front, at almost precisely the same moment, also shot by Phillip from a second remote camera, a robotic one operated by remote control.
Finally, let's pull back once again. Now, here's the same moment revealed for a third time, as captured by Phillip from another static remote camera.
A single moment. A single photographer. But three frames and three entirely different perspectives. And what do you see?
Depends on how you look at things.
