Sluman leads by 1 at Westchester

Harrison, NY – Jeff Sluman fired a six-under 65 Thursday to stroke lead after the first round of the Senior Players Championship.

This is the fifth major of the season on the Champions Tour and Sluman has had a decent run in the first four. He has notched three top-20 finishes and also shared 28th at the Senior British Open.

Sluman picked up his fourth Champions Tour title earlier this year at the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. It was his third victory at that event alone.

Peter Senior and Gary Hallberg are one stroke off the pace at minus-five on the West Course at Westchester Country Club.

Jay Haas, Corey Pavin and Michael Allen are tied at four-under 67.

Defending champion Mark O'Meara shares seventh at minus-three.
