J.R. Smith is an unrestricted free agent, but there are a couple of reasons that you haven't heard his name mentioned in rumors linking him to potential suitors.

Smith has a bit of a checkered past from a personality standpoint, even though he can occasionally shoot the lights out. But beyond that, it's widely expected by those around the league that Smith will eventually re-sign with the Cavaliers.

Still, at least one team reportedly expressed some interest. According to Sam Amico, that team was the Philadelphia 76ers.

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface. Philadelphia is an extremely young team looking to develop a particular kind of culture, and if you're going to add veterans to the mix, you want to bring in guys who consistently act professionally and who can set a good example.

It's worth noting that it's August, the dog days of the NBA news cycle. Every little tidbit of information gets reported, simply because there's not much happening.

Bottom line? We wouldn't put too much stock in this one.
