Palermo defender Matias Silvestre has joined Inter Milan on loan in a move that could become permanent.

The two teams have had discussions over a full time transfer of the player, but Palermo revealed that the move has not yet been made permanent.

Under the terms of the arrangement, Inter will have the option of buying Silvestre next summer for a fee of nearly $10 million.

Silvestre is under contract with Palermo until June 2015, and he is coming off of a season in which he totaled five goals in 29 league matches.
