The San Antonio Silver Stars have given head coach and general manager Dan Hughes a contract extension.

Terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.

"Coach Hughes is one of the best coaches in the WNBA and has been an integral part of the Silver Stars' success over the past eight seasons," said team executive Frank Miceli in a statement. "Beyond his on court success, coach Hughes exemplifies Spurs Sports & Entertainment's values of integrity, success and caring, and we look forward to his continued leadership of our franchise."

Hughes was named head coach in 2005 and assumed the GM role a year later. His 119 wins are the most in franchise history. He has led the Silver Stars to six consecutive playoff appearances, including a Western Conference title in 2008.

The longest-tenured coach in the WNBA, Hughes is the only coach to lead three franchises -- San Antonio, Cleveland and Charlotte -- to the playoffs. He has amassed 195 wins, second-most in WNBA history, and his 392 games coached are the most in league annals.
