Thiago Silva has signed a one-year extension with PSG which will keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2018, it was announced Thursday.

"We are very proud to extend Thiago's contract, he's an exceptional player both on and off the field," PSG's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said in a statement. "He symbolizes the aim of PSG to construct one of the top performing teams in Europe."

The 28-year-old moved to PSG from AC Milan in 2012 in a deal worth approximately $53 million and captained the team to the Ligue 1 title.
