Williamsburg, VA – Jiyai Shin two-putted for par from 15 feet Monday to finally defeat Paula Creamer on the ninth playoff hole and win the Kingsmill Championship.
After the tournament couldn't be decided after eight tries at the 18th hole Sunday, Shin and Creamer came back to Kingsmill Resort Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. ET.
This time, they played the par-4 16th hole.
Both players found the green in regulation, but Creamer had 30 feet for birdie. Shin was much closer and Creamer left herself close to six feet for par. Shin narrowly missed her birdie effort for the win, but left herself only two feet for par.
Creamer missed her par putt and Shin tapped in for her ninth LPGA Tour title and first since 2010.
Shin shot a 2-under 69 on Sunday and Creamer, the third-round leader, managed an even-par 71.
The duo finished at 16-under-par 268.
Shin pocketed $195,000 for the Monday victory and crossed the $5 million mark in career earnings. It was also her 27th career win worldwide.
For Creamer, this was a chance to get back into the winner's circle after a long drought.
Her last victory was her only major title, the 2010 U.S. Women's Open.
Both are headed to Royal Liverpool, albeit later than everyone else, for the Women's British Open this week.
Karine Icher (65) and Danielle Kang (69) shared third at 14-under par.
Angela Stanford fired a 7-under 64 in the final round and shared fifth with Catriona Matthew, who carded a 3-under 68 on Sunday. The pair finished at minus-13.
NOTES: The Women's British Open is on tap Thursday with world No. 1 Yani Tseng defending her title.
