The San Jose Sharks on Monday agreed to one-year contracts with forward Andrew Desjardins and goaltender Alex Stalock. No financial terms were disclosed.
Desjardins, 24, appeared in 17 games with San Jose this past season, making his NHL debut on Jan. 3 vs. Vancouver. He scored one goal and 3 points during the regular season and added a goal in his three Stanley Cup Playoff appearances. Desjardins also played in 58 games for the Sharks’ AHL affiliate in Worcester, posting 12 goals and 29 points, 69 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Lively, Ont., was signed as a free agent by San Jose on June 26, 2010.
Stalock, 23, earned a win in his first NHL game on Feb. 1 saving all nine shots he faced in relief of Antti Niemi as the Sharks overcame a three-goal deficit against the Phoenix Coyotes.
He also posted a 19-17-4 record with a 2.63 goals against average and a .907 save percentage with Worcester. In 2009-10, Stalock set an AHL rookie record by recording 39 wins, played in the AHL All-Star Game and was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team.
The 6-foot, 185-pound native of St. Paul, Minn., was selected by San Jose in the fourth round (No. 112 of the 2005 Entry Draft.
In addition, the Sharks issued qualifying offers to four players – forwards Benn Ferriero, John McCarthy, Jamie McGinn and Frazier McLaren.
